Hotel Rate Guarantee

Terms and Conditions


  • American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) will match the lower room rate found or we will pay the difference between the consumed Amex GBT hotel stay rate and the lower rate we did not offer, subject to the below terms and conditions. We will also waive any associated transaction costs relating to the consumed booked hotel stay.
  • The refund will be processed after the hotel stay has been consumed and paid for.
  • All terms and conditions of the lower rate must be the same as the original Amex GBT rate booked, including but not limited to the following:
    • Same hotel property
    • Same dates of stay
    • Same rate type booked
    • Same booking terms and conditions, including those related to:
      • Late arrival
      • Payment terms (e.g., refundable vs. nonrefundable)
      • Cancellation policy
      • Amenities (e.g., breakfast, Wi-Fi)
      • Bed type
      • Room type
      • Occupancy (number of guests)
  • The rate guarantee may be invoked up to 24 hours after the original booking (all requested booking details must be submitted to Amex GBT within the 24-hour period).
  • The rate guarantee needs to be invoked within the cancellation period and may not be invoked on the day of check in.
  • The rate guarantee does not apply for clients who do not allow the best available rate (BAR) to be shown or offered first.
  • The rate guarantee is not applicable for any bookings related to groups, meetings, or events.
  • The rate guarantee is subject to your exclusive use of the following hotel content in Amex GBT proprietary regions:
    • Amex GBT’s negotiated rates with hotels
    • Hotel rates that are publicly available in the Global Distribution System (GDS) used to service your account.
    • Rates with Amex GBT’s third-party partners where available
  • The rate guarantee does not apply to rates that should be packaged.
  • The rate guarantee does not apply in any instances where Amex GBT offered a lower rate that was rejected by the traveler or by someone booking on behalf of the traveler.
  • For a claim to be valid, the original claim must include a screenshot or another time-stamped proof of rate availability for the rate not offered.
  • All rate comparisons must be in the same currency.
  • The rate guarantee does not apply to rates found using loyalty points or membership agreements.
  • The final decision on the validity of any claim under this rate guarantee rests solely with Amex GBT.
  • Amex GBT reserves the right to limit, modify, or terminate the rate guarantee at any time.
